ALABAMA
Senator Richard Shelby (R) is running unopposed. Shelby scored a 77% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard.
ALASKA
Senator Lisa Murkowski (R) is running unopposed. Murkowski scored a 50% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard.
ARIZONA
Senator John McCain (R) has three primary opponents: J.D. Hayworth (R), Chris Simcox (R) and Jim Deakin (R). McCain scored a 77% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard.
ARKANSAS
Senator Blanche Lincoln (D) scored a 9% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard. Lincoln has a number of Republican challengers, including Gilbert Baker (R), Curtis Coleman (R), and John Boozman (R). The GOP primary is May 18, 2010. This race presents a potential pick-up opportunity for conservatives.
CALIFORNIA
Senator Barbara Boxer (D) scored a 2% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard. Boxer has two Republican challengers: Assemblyman Chuck DeVore (R), former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina (R), and former U.S. Rep. Tom Campbell (R). The GOP primary is June 8, 2010. SCF endorses Chuck DeVore.
COLORADO
Senator Michael Bennet (D) was appointed to the Senate after Ken Salazar vacated the seat to become Secretary of the Interior. Bennet has one primary opponent – Andrew Romanoff (D) – and several Republican opponents, including Jane Norton (R), Ken Buck (R), and Tom Wiens (R). The GOP primary is August 10, 2010. SCF endorses Ken Buck.
CONNECTICUT
Senator Chris Dodd (D) is not running for re-election. The race to fill this open seat will be a contest between Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal (D) and the winner of the Republican primary between Rob Simmons (R), Linda McMahon (R), and Peter Schiff (R). The GOP primary is August 10, 2010.
DELAWARE
Senator Tom Kaufman (D) is not running for re-election. Kaufman was appointed to the seat as a caretaker after Joe Biden became Vice President. Now that Beau Biden (D), the Vice President's son, has decided not to run, this open seat will likely be filled by the winner of the Republican primary between Mike Castle (R) and Christine O’Donnell (R). This race presents a potential pick-up opportunity for conservatives.
FLORIDA
Senator George LeMieux (R) is not running for re-election. LeMieux was appointed to the seat as a caretaker after Mel Martinez (R) resigned. The race to fill this open seat will likely be a contest between Kendrick Meek (D), Florida Governor Charlie Crist (I) and Marco Rubio (R), the Former Speaker of the Florida House. SCF endorses Marco Rubio.
GEORGIA

HAWAII
Senator Daniel Inouye (D) is running unopposed. Inouye scored a 2% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard.
IDAHO
Senator Mike Crapo (R) is running unopposed. Crapo scored a 83% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard.
ILLINOIS
Senator Roland Burris (D) is not running for re-election. The race to fill this open seat will is now a contest between Alexi Giannoulias (D) and U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk (R).
INDIANA
Senator Evan Bayh (D) is not running for re-election. There are a number of Republicans running to challenge Bayh, including Marlin Stutzman (R), John Hostettler (R), and Dan Coats (R). The Republican primary is May 4, 2010. This race presents a potential pick-up opportunity for conservatives.
IOWA
Senator Chuck Grassley (R) scored a 77% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard. There are several Democrats running to challenge Grassley but they are not serious challengers.
KANSAS
Senator Sam Brownback (R) is retiring. This open seat will likely be filled by the winner of the Republican primary between U.S. Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R) or U.S. Rep. Jerry Moran (R).
KENTUCKY
Senator Jim Bunning (R) is retiring. There are several Democrats running for the seat, including Dan Mongiardo (D) and Jack Conway (D). There are also several Republicans running, including Trey Grayson (R) and Rand Paul (R). The Republican primary is May 18, 2010.
LOUISIANA
Senator David Vitter (R) scored a 91% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard. Vitter is being challenged by U.S. Rep. Charlie Melancon (D).
MARYLAND
Senator Barbara Mikulski (D) scored a 2% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard. Mikulski has two Republican challengers: Jim Rutledge (R) and Eric Wargotz (R). The GOP primary is September 14, 2010.
MASSACHUSETTS
Senator Paul Kirk (D) is retiring. Kirk was appointed as a caretaker for the seat following the death of former Senator Ted Kennedy (D). The special election was held on January 19, 2010 between Attorney General Martha Coakley (D) and State Senator Scott Brown (R). Scott Brown was the winner.
MISSOURI
Senator Kit Bond (R) is retiring. This open seat will be filled by either U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt (R) or Secretary of State Robin Carnahan (D).
NEVADA
Senator Harry Reid (D) scored a 4% rating in the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard. Reid has several Republican challengers, including Danny Tarkanian (R), Sue Lowden (R), and Sharron Angle (R). The Republican primary is June 8, 2010. This race presents a potential pick-up opportunity for conservatives.
NEW HAMPSHIRE

NEW YORK - B
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D) is running for election. Gillibrand was appointed to the seat after Hillary Clinton became Secretary of State and vacated the seat. Gillibrand has a couple Democrat primary opponents but she is expected to win the nomination. She does not have any Republican challengers.
NORTH CAROLINA
Senator Richard Burr (R) scored an 89% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard. There are several Democrats challenging Burr, including attorney Kenneth Lewis (D) and Secretary of State Elaine Marshall (D).
NORTH DAKOTA
Senator Byron Dorgan (D) is not running for re-election. John Hoeven (R) and Paul Sorum (R) are currently running for the Republican nomination. This race presents a potential pick-up opportunity for conservatives.
OHIO
Senator George Voinovich (R) is retiring. There are several Democrats and two Republicans running to fill this open seat. The Republican candidates are former Congressman Rob Portman (R) and car dealer Tom Ganley (R). The Republican primary is May 4, 2010.
OKLAHOMA
Senator Tom Coburn (R) is running unopposed. Coburn scored a 96% on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard, and is one of the strongest conservatives in the U.S. Senate.
OREGON
Senator Ron Wyden (D) is running unopposed. Wyden scored a 6% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard.
PENNSYLVANIA
Senator Arlen Specter (D) scored a 44% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard. Specter is being challenged by U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak (D) in the Democratic primary. The winner will face former Congressman Pat Toomey (R) in the general election. This race presents a potential pick-up opportunity for conservatives. SCF endorses Pat Toomey.
SOUTH CAROLINA
Senator Jim DeMint (R) scored a 100% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard. DeMint is being challenged by a couple Democrats but none are serious challengers.
SOUTH DAKOTA
Senator John Thune (R) is running unopposed. Thune scored an 85% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard.
TEXAS
Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R) has committed to resign this year. At that point, Governor Rick Perry (R) will appoint a replacement. Texas will then hold a special election on November 2, 2010 to permanently fill the seat. There are a few Republican candidates running for the seat, but Texas Railroad Commissioner Michael Williams is the conservative standout. SCF endorses Michael Williams. UPDATE: Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison recently announced that she will not resign until her term expires in 2012.
UTAH
Senator Bob Bennett (R) scored a 60% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard. Bennett faces several Republican primary challengers, including Mike Lee (R), Cherilyn Eager (R) and Tim Bridgewater (R). Balloting will be held at the state Republican convention May 8, 2010. There are three rounds of balloting, where the top 3 candidates make it to the 2nd round and the top 2 make it to the final ballot. If a candidate receives 60 percent of the delegate votes on any ballot, he or she would be deemed nominated and there would be no primary contest. But if that should not occur, there will be a primary between the two finalist candidates June 22, 2010. Whoever wins the Republican primary will likely win the general election.
VERMONT
Senator Pat Leahy (D) is running unopposed. Leahy scored a 4% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard.
WASHINGTON
Senator Patty Murray (D) scored a 0% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard. Murray has several Republican challengers, including Chris Widener (R), Clint Didier (R), and Don Benton (R). The GOP primary is August 17, 2010. This race presents a potential pick-up opportunity for conservatives.
WISCONSIN
Senator Russ Feingold (D) scored a 21% rating on the 2008 SCF Senate scorecard. Feingold is being challenged by Dave Westlake (R).
