As a young man, his life unfolding before him, his latest entry in an April the 7th posting on Facebook stated the following:

"Was told last night that I was the greatest person this kid has ever met...made me feel good =)"

It could have been the last entry 20 year-old John Borek would ever make. His life was nearly taken by a gunshot to the neck near UNC Charlotte at 12:30 am on Sunday April the 8th, not long after his Facebook entry.

The assumed cause of the assault was the result of a late-night attempt to purchase marijuana in a parking lot; however, none have attempted to assess the perpetrator's state of mind, up to this point, which is highly unusual in our media experiences of late.

The Charlotte Police met and subsequently arrested the alleged shooter, a 17 year-old named Davahughn Lamar Johnson, as he emerged from a school bus to go to class in Charlotte. Below is a portion of the story from April Bethea of the Charlotte Observer...
