Conservative Refocus
As the US now seems ready to finally grind its fragile economy back into creeping motion--despite the ad nauseum legislative activities of those in Government--the issues concerning the failure of our nation to control its borders have come to a head. The problems associated with illegal immigration and the financial burdens to the Country (and therefore Taxpayers) have resulted in a number of states working to legislate their own answers to the "Federal Procrastination Policy" that is this sticky mess. Both Republicans and Democrats seem equally culpable as neither party has been able to construct a solution that is equitable to all.
While the blame for the Illegals is the one thing that, realistically speaking, cannot be aimed at the Obama Administration, it is difficult to point a finger of contrition at anyone other than the Democrats who seem consistently enamored at the possible new voting block of Illegals who may undergo amnesty as a result of the Democrat's self-interested efforts. In addition, the "holes in the unmended Border Fence" will allow Democrats "drive-in access" to this new and now seemingly necessary voting block since many Americans have recently turned away from the Democratic Party in abject disgust.
But when we look at the sub-prime mortgage fiasco that crippled our economy as a result of a winking and nodding Federal Community Reinvestment Act, Fannie May and Freddie Mac (which has recently supplicated for yet more funding), and a cacophony of undulating if not misguided Politicos, we find it interesting that the states which have incurred the most problems with defaulting mortgages also appear to be states which have unusually heavy populations of illegals. Florida, California, Arizona and Nevada lead the way in mortgage defaults and interestingly--also seem to lead the way in the number of "estimated" Illegals. This "interesting" coincidence raises the question of how much of a factor the Illegals may have also played in bringing on the financial meltdown.

Double, Double, Toil and Trouble; Find the Illegals, Burst the Bubble

Now, in another brewing battle for States Rights, in addition to the one concerning the new Healthcare law, we are seeing additional states considering various Immigration Reform Laws. These states include Utah, North Carolina, Geogia, Missouri, Colorado, Maryland, Ohio, Texas, Oklahoma and Nebraska. In fact, each of these states have undergone varied economic strains as a result of Illegals who swoop in using up various state Government services such as schooling, medical services, and private sector jobs only to hastily "vamoose" whenever economic conditions exist to better serve their goals elsewhere.
While many on the Left decry the states' efforts at controlling illegals--due to the number of lawsuits the states will undergo (as the Lefties put it)--the states in question will, no doubt, find lawsuits a far cheaper alternative than continually providing costly services to the often temporary Illegals.
In fact, the over-reaching Federal Government has now inspired a task force of republican elected officials to delve into the subject of States Rights and the 10th Amendment in order to historically review the unprecedented interventions of the Obama Administration with regard to its ongoing anti-Constitutional bent .
US Code on Illegal Immigration Versus Mexico's Apocryphal
The President, who has sworn to uphold the US Constitution along with the laws of the land, has absurdly (and yet typically) come out in threats of lawsuits and Federal actions against Arizona for a law that actually mirrors US Federal law. Under Title 8, section 1325 of the US code as it regards improper entry by an alien, the following law exists:
-
Any Citizen of any Country other than the United States who:
-
Enters or attempts to enter the US at any time or place other than as designated by Immigration Officers or
-
Eludes examination or inspection by Immigration Officers; or
-
Attempts to enter or obtains entry to the US by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact has committed a federal crime. Violations are punishable by criminal fines and imprisonment for up to six months in jail. Repeat offenses can be punishable for up to 2 years imprisonment. Additional civil fines may be imposed but do not negate the criminal sanctions or nature of the offense.
The Answer to Finding Illegals without Profiling; A Return of The Jedi

So, while the Federal law is very clear to even the most obtuse of thickheaded Academians, the President--who earned a law degree from "the best of schools"--has apparently failed to even partially comprehend the law. In fact, most of the Leftward--along with the Mainstream Media--try to divert the arguments to any numbers of false and misdirecting premises by dredging up the politically correct "use of racial profiling" regarding anyone who might appear to be from Mexico when asked to expound on their opinions.
Nevermind the fact that a very large number of Arizonans are of Hispanic descent and they support the law. In fact, a majority of Americans support Arizona's law as a last-ditch effort to maintain the sovereignity of America along with its financial and domestic security. Regarding this poll, the Media has come out in severe spin mode by trying to make the case that 60% of Americans "for the law" versus a 36% "against" the law is,and I quote, "a slim majority of Americans". In this case, as indicated by the above link, the Reporter fails to add the total number of "For" responses together--in essence totally leaving out the 9% of responders who think that the law is not tough enough but agree that anything is better than nothing. Adding insult to injury she then, apparently, counts the " I Don't Know" responses in the "Against the Law" column in a glaring display of media contriving the numbers.
Indeed, most Liberals, when confronted with the subject of what the US should do about the Illegals, evade the question continually in order to hide their non-admitted but mindful lack of "clear thinking" on the subject. Virtually every Liberal that can be heard, when disgorging on the subject of Illegal Aliens, drops back into an offensive stance, building up the steam of hyperbole, and then launches strings of invective against their questioner when pressed--spittle flying, eyes roiling, veins bulging while haranguing their personal antagonist on the immorality of "racial profiling" rarely, if ever, getting down to the nuts and bolts of actually trying to solve the problem.
Meanwhile ironically in Mexico, the Draconian laws read a bit differently for illegal immigration and even citizenship as compared to the US. The laws for Mexico start at imprisonment for up to two years as a felony if caught due to illegal entry. If an individual were to repeat the offense of "illegal entry," he or she will be punished by up to 10 years of imprisonment (Barney Frank--Stay Out of Mexico!). In addition to the aforementioned, you must either be wealthy or a trained professional to gain naturalization--nevermind the drug dealers. Unskilled workers are not allowed, nor will one be allowed access to any Government programs such as welfare assistance and healthcare among many other items--if not a Citizen. Protests are not allowed and will be rewarded by deportation if not worse. My only point here would be "OK"--no problemo ...
The No Spin Zone, El Torro and Bizarre Fidelity

Conservative Charles Krauthammer, interviewed recently on the Bill O'Reilly Show, seems to have one of the best approaches if not somewhat surprising of possible solutions. Krauthammer states that the borders should be completely secured and then we should undertake to deport all of those Illegal Aliens with a criminal record. America could then go about the process of graduated amnesty requiring the illegals pay a fine to start with. In addition, he states, the Illegals should then be mandated to learn and speak the English language while being compelled to truly integrate into American society. While most of us might buck at much of this, it does seem to be a "workable" solution if not an attempt to "take El Toro by the horns."
Under these conditions, we at Conservative Refocus would only add, that in order to gain the true measure of our new "citizens' fidelity," said Illegals should also be required to fully renounce their Mexican Citizenship. If those in question balk, we will then know the true measure of their fidelity and disallow Citizenship. In a figurative exclamation point to this article, several officials at a San Francisco High School have thoughtfully provided us with a glimpse at the extreme if not bizarre continual dysfunction that we "Traditionalists" and otherwise are now faced with.
Several patriotic students at Live Oak High School were actually sent home on May 5, 2010 due to their shirts sporting stylized American flags and/or colors. The problem? An Hispanic school official was concerned that the American flag might incite violence with a number of Hispanic students who were celebrating the minor Mexican holiday of Cinco de Mayo and complained that other students were wearing American flags on "their" day of celebrating Mexico (while suckling off the now nearly spent teats of American largess).
This is what we have, rather disturbingly, become...
But as the Nation's distemper comes to a boil over illegal immigration and the new Arizona law, a lurking danger has now surfaced from the depths of the Gulf. The explosion of the BP oil rig and the ensuing oil seepage from the well seems to have caught everyone off guard--including our Government. Because of the depth of the well, which is nearly one mile down, capping the well has proven difficult. The amount of escaping oil has been estimated at nearly 210,000 gallons per day which threatens to ravage the lowlands located along the Gulf in ways that are difficult to gauge.
Obama's Katrina: Mysterious but Timely Happenstance
One has to stop and wonder if the former President, an Oil Man at one time, could have provided the necessary leadership of expertise to stem the flow of what may become a true man-made disaster. The current Administration has bore the brunt of many accusations due to its inactivity during the first nine days of the Federal Inaction, in controlling the leak. The disaster is now being called "Obama's Katrina" as a result of the "molasses-like" response by the Government which, according to US reaction policies, should be the first and immediate responder providing accountable leadership in the event of a disaster such as this.
BP, who owns the oil well, has also been correctly brought into blame due to the fail-safes (for just this sort of event) being inoperative. When we look at the overall damages along with the cost of the cleanup, we wonder if even BP will be able to handle the overall financial, as well as reputational damage, which will ultimately ensue. All the while, many Conservatives and others are wondering--if not actually suspicious--of the, yet again, "coincidental" timing of this terrible disaster. In fact, an oil spill of this magnitude within the Gulf is historically unprecedented and comes just on the heels of the President's decision to begin new explorations for oil off the coasts of the US. The additional facts as they regard the fail-safes "failing" and the as of yet unexplained explosion, which brought all of this about, only deepen our suspicions as new drilling operations have been suspended.
Add to this the fact that this particular drilling rig was a state of the art deep sea oil drilling platform--a veritable floating city of cutting edge drilling technology that was designed to safely mitigate just this sort of thing. Meanwhile we have "coincidental" reports of SWAT teams being assigned to various positions within the Gulf, along with a promise from the US Government's investigative teams to look at any and every "possible cause" making us wonder if something might be afoot in a world overcome with wild theories.
The Good Thing about the Taliban's Disdain of Education...
We also have an unexploded bomb being found in Time's Square NY where the Naturalized American suspect had ties with the Pakistan Taliban but failed to wear his "He-Man woman haters club international time decoder watch" (the detonation clocks were set to Pakistani time). Another bomb-like devise was found in near proximity to a marathon race to be held that same day in Pittsburgh.
In addition to this we also have "exploding luggage" which occurred in Bush Airport in Texas, along with various "sky-connected" bomb threats--all in the last seven days--along with a possible additional attack on Time's Square just a few days later. Are, perhaps, all of these "near" attacks occurring of their own accord and simple singular "coincidence," or is there a pattern developing?
In a recent article which appeared in Pravda, a writer asks the question "Why are all of these bad things happening to America"? This would appear to be a valid question, and the answer is probably not quite as sophisticated as many would let on. We now have the advent of an ideological President, Media and Congress enjoining to form a triumvirate of questionable "We know best--despite all evidence to the contrary" leadership, coupled with an ongoing misdirection of attention towards illegitimate societal concerns of false but keen sounding solutions. In fact, problems such as these have always risen out of the sea of troubles which each nation faces continually and are, for the most part, historically overcome by careful Leadership, albeit not of late--it would seem.
The Talisman of Coincidence: A Nation Awash in Dubious Happenstance
The valid solutions to such problems (or the current seeming lack thereof) would seem to be a large part of America's ongoing issues. It's almost as if America has taken the mythical "Jonah" on-board and simply cannot avoid the worst of consequential luck, no matter the various causes. As America struggles with the problems of inhabitant illegality, while her Federal Government (created for the implicit purpose of such matters) not only maddeningly refuses to deal directly with these problems, but rather joins the camp of those non-citizens who break the laws of the land under seeming force of encouragement by the supposed "sanctioned" enforcer. This, along with all of the other strange signals and rumours at play seem to indicate any of several possible idioms which might come into play--but point to one particular red herring that is only discussed in hushed tones.
The Political religion of Globalism seems to have reared its ghastly head in America.
When a sovereign state, such as Arizona, among others, is ideologically eschewed by the Overseeing State in favor of those illegal usurpers who do not belong and who actually create myriad problems for the sub-state, the one defining feature that seems falsely couched in a construct of compassion is Globalism, and this particular scenario may set a lurid example for how it begins. It would seem that "down has now become up and up has now become down" as well as raging deficits being now good and budgetary discipline being now bad.
In Another extreme instance of coincidence, our latest understanding of the number of estimated Illegal Aliens in America has been reported by Homeland Security to be approximately 6.65 million while, ironically, the latest US unemployment numbers have been estimated at 6.995 Million by the Government. Shall we connect the dots here as well, or is this but another glimpse of mere "coincidental" chance?
Are we beginning to see our inevitable future in a daisy chain of decline, some might wonder? Are all of these events related in some way? As a good friend of mine has frequently reminded me, there are no coincidences.
We can only hope that, in all of this myriad happenstance, coincidences do indeed exist.
"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"
